The Importance of a Primer

If you have not been using a primer, then you’re milling the hell out.
A lot of people, including myself until a year ago, thought primers were just an unnecessary way to take longer in the already rushed morning before school. I also viewed it as a way of beauty companies to make more money, however I was completely unaware of all the benefits this product has.
“Whether you wear a full face of makeup everyday or you prefer to keep it simple with BB cream and tinted lip balm, makeup primer is a godsend when trying to combat shine or create a smooth base for foundation.” (Oliver, 2015)

To elaborate, a primer is used as a base for foundations to help create a smooth, even surface resulting in the product lasting longer. Along with this, it has many other benefits:

Seals Pores
Primers reducing the size of the pores. Before applying any form of base, especially liquid, the primer stops the product from seeping into the pores and causing breakouts, including pimples and blackheads. If an individual has large, open pores naturally, a primer will reduce the size of them and create a barrier over them so no product can be in contact.

Softens and hydrates the skin

If you’ve never used a primer before then you wont understand when I say that primers make your face feel as soft as a baby’s bum. Having a soft base lets the foundation glide onto the skin without having to buff it in, which causes skin irritation and leads to wrinkles. Especially during the winter months when we are constantly exposed to heaters drying and tightening (in a bad way) our skin out, a primer will help with extra hydration to reduce dry skin.

Easy to apply
Primers do not require any special brush or blender. Simply use your fingertips to lightly massage the product onto the face and slightly down the neck.

Gives an all-over glow.
Depending on what type of primer you use, it should give your skin a radiant glow. I know whenever I’m getting ready of a morning and put my primer on, I look as though I’ve just come back from a 4-week holiday in sunny Hawaii, getting treated with a facial every day. THIS is what you want in a primer. It just makes me feel so more awake and ready for the day, and who doesn’t love seeing their skin glow?

Light consistency
If you’re worried about adding an extra layer of product to your skin, don’t be. Primers are incredibly light and feel as though you’re wearing nothing. Plus a little goes a long way.

My choice of primer
Arbonne Makeup Primer literally feels like silk gliding on my face. Out of my 11 months of being an Arbonne consultant, this makeup primer is by far my most sold product. I gave clients tiny samples of this product and they just fall in love with the feeling on their skin and how different it makes their overall foundation look.

The product is a lightweight, smooth, creamy formula which preps the skin for a more flawless foundation application. It minimises the look of skin imperfections, delivering a diminished appearance of fine lines and pores, and it helps makeup last longer throughout the day. Also dermatologist and ophthalmologist-tested.Primer1024
